Xabi Alonso has put his Real Madrid squad in ‘bunker mode’ ahead of their trip to Liverpool.
MARCA report that the Basque has declined Liverpool’s offer to train at Anfield ahead of their Champions League match on November 4th.
Such practice is usual for away teams, but the outlet claim Alonso is copying the same trick his old coach Jose Mourinho did ahead of big away games.
On top of declining the offer to use Anfield, the first time Madrid‘s players will see the stadium and pitch is when they arrive for kick-off.
Alonso will travel to the stadium to hold media duties alongside a selected player, while the rest of the squad will head to the team hotel – another Mourinho trick he’s looking to exploit.
The last time Alonso went to Anfield was his first time as a coach on November 5th a year ago.
However, his Bayer Leverkusen side were thumped 4-0.
