PSV have been crowned Eredivisie champions in record-breaking fashion thanks to Feyenoord.
Robin van Persie‘s second-placed side drew away to Volendam to see Pete Bosz’s leaders clinch the crown.
PSV did their bit a day earlier, coming back from 2-0 down against Utrecht to win 4-3.
Clinching the title on April 5th is the earliest in Dutch history, breaking the previous record also set by PSV on April 8th 1978.
The title is PSV’s third in a row under Bosz and 27th overall, shy of Ajax’s 36 but a clear sign of changing fortunes.
The Eindhoven club have won 13 Eredivisie this century to Ajax’s nine, while the current gap between the clubs is vast.
Last season PSV won the title on the final day of the season thanks to an almighty collapse by Ajax who lost a nine point lead in the final weeks.
This time they’ve topped Feyenoord with five to play.
Ajax, meanwhile, are down in fifth and look in serious risk of missing out on Champions League football with defeat to fellow top three challengers FC Twente.
Feyenoord could also make it two of the traditional big three in crisis with NEC Nijmegen a point behind them in third.
