Roberto De Zerbi gave French journalists a reality check after Marseille’s 3-1 defeat to PSG.
PSG all but sealed their standard league title on Sunday night, in a match known as ‘Le Classique’.
The term is used to describe the biggest derbies in Europe, such as Real Madrid vs Barcelona, Porto vs Benfica and Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund.
However, due to PSG’s complete dominance over the French league, De Zerbi doesn’t see it on the same footing.
“When I was young, OM were on top, and PSG did not exist,” he said. “You are the ones calling this match a Classico.
“This is not the reality of this confrontation. We cannot compete economically with them. Today, there is no longer any rivalry because PSG has a much bigger budget, it is out of the league.
“OM is the most important club in France and I continue to say it.”
De Zerbi then asked reporters if they disagreed about OM being the country’s biggest club, and no one disagreed.
