Judging by PSG’s press release on Lucas Chevalier’s signing, Gigi Donnarumma isn’t very good.
The Champions League winning Italy No.1 is heavily linked with a departure from Paris, even more so since the club signed one of the best young shot stoppers in the game.
And in their announcement of the former Lille man, they made sure to list his strengths, all attributes Donnarumma has been accused of lacking.
“Comfortable on the goal line, in duels, coming out. And he also has excellent footwork,” they wrote.
If that wasn’t enough, Chevalier’s first interview indicated that he is pretty certain he’ll be PSG’s new No.1.
“I had the opportunity to speak with Luis Enrique, perhaps the best coach in the world today, and I sensed a real interest from him in having me come to PSG,” he began.
“He’s a coach with a unique way of guiding his team. The goalkeeper’s role is very important in his system; he expects him to be at the centre of the game, to bring added value.
“It’s flattering and motivating that he saw all this in me.”
And perhaps not in Manchester United-linked Donnarumma…
