A 13-year-old PSG academy star was taken to hospital in Porto after defending his teammate against racism.
Le Parisien report that Armand, who plays for Montrouge FC 92 but was representing PSG, sustained a broken nose.
They claim that: ‘Young players from the Parisian selection were allegedly victims of racist insults and monkey chants from an opposing team and even some parents.
‘Thirteen-year-old Armand, a member of the Montrouge club during the season, was attacked while defending his teammates.
‘He was subsequently taken to a hospital in Porto. Initial examinations revealed that he had suffered a broken nose due to blows to his face’.
Montrouge wrote in a statement: “Montrouge Football Club 92 expresses its strongest indignation and condemns with the utmost firmness the acts of racism and violence that occurred during an international tournament.
“Our young licensed player Armand, who courageously stood up in defense of a teammate who was the victim of racist remarks and monkey chants, was assaulted and taken to hospital following this incident.
“These events are profoundly shocking and go against the fundamental values of sport, respect, and living together that we defend every day within our club.
“The entire club extends its full support to Armand, his family, and all the young players affected by this situation.
“The courage he showed in defending a teammate demonstrates just how much Armand is an exemplary player full of values.
“Racism and violence have no place in sport or in society.
“Football must remain a space for education, respect, and brotherhood.
“Armand, you are a hero!!!”
Montrouge also revealed support from PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi who has invited Armand and his family as VIP’s to an upcoming match.
Armand’s mother told Unifoot: “We love football, but we’ve never seen racism like this.
“He wanted to protect his friend, he ended up in the emergency room. The children are all shocked.”
