Senegal’s World Cup exit has been dogged by claims about poor behaviour, and now one of their key men has spoken out.
The African champions (or not?) exited the 2026 tournament in disappointing fashion, giving up a 2-0 lead against a poor Belgium side in the last 32.
Since their exit, unsubstantiated claims have came out about parties and drink culture at their training base.
Claims about Senegal’s World Cup parties
African news portal Sport News Africa says there were numerous parties and private gatherings.
Allegedly, staff invited friends and content creators to events with alcohol, expensive gifts, and extravagant expenses.
Former Senegal youth team player Paul Keita has been backing the claims on social media, but he was shut down by Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.
Nicolas Jackson hits out
Responding on Instagram, Jackson said: “Stop lying, you idiot.
“Nobody even knows you ever played for our country. You’re a former Senegal player and you’re spreading lies about the players.
“Focus on your own career instead of saying I drink alcohol.”
He added: “I share the disappointment of an entire nation. We wanted to go further for you and for this jersey.
“I also see what’s being said about me. It’s false. I don’t drink alcohol, I never have.
“I love this jersey too much and respect my teammates too much to behave any other way than a professional.
“I understand the anger after a defeat. But it doesn’t give anyone the right to lie about a man.”
Coach Pape Thiaw has also been getting it in the neck for his tactics.
Seneweb wrote: “A match that reflected his tournament: INCOMPREHENSIBLE. The coach made the wrong choices in most of his decisions.”
Sene.news echoed this sentiment, adding: “The primary responsibility undoubtedly lies with coach Pape Thiaw.
“Senegal’s performance changed drastically after the substitutions. Subsequent bench choices failed to stem the opposition’s comeback.”
