Roma’s stoppage time comeback win over Lecce was something rather special.
Goals from Sardar Azmoun and Romelu Lukaku in the 91st and 94th minutes of the game snatched the most dramatic of 2-1 home victories.
Lukaku had earlier missed a penalty in the fifth minute, and his last-gasp redemption clearly meant a lot, with the Belgian breaking down at the final whistle.
Head coach Jose Mourinho was similarly full of emotion at full-time, and thanked the Stadio Olimpico crowd post-match.
“It’s a victory for the fans,” he said.
“I have coached six or seven teams and I have never seen a crowd support a team that is losing at home like this until the end.”
The result helped Roma move to seventh in Serie A, four points from the Champions League places.
