Fabio Capello has shown he’s got no interest in an Italian coaching fraternity after tearing into Marseille’s Roberto De Zerbi.
The league title winner with Real Madrid, Juventus, Roma and Milan is now working full time as a pundit, and it’s too impressed with one of his countrymen over in France.
OM lost 3-0 at home to Liverpool in the Champions League, and one goal in particular left Capello in a bad mood.
Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai was able to simply squeeze a free kick under a jumping OM wall who didn’t place a player lying down, as has become commonplace in recent years.
Referencing the lack of a ‘crocodile’ Capello said: “I cannot accept a coach saying, ‘My goalkeeper doesn’t want the crocodile’.
“You’re giving the opposition two options: if you don’t set up the crocodile, the players can’t jump and have to stay still.
“This is therefore an extremely serious and unacceptable mistake.”
Then going in harder on De Zerbi, he said: “What has he done in his career?
“I don’t understand at all why he’s being talked about as a top coach, why he’s being supported in this way.”
