It’s emerged that Rayan Cherki went to extra lengths to try and seal a dream switch to Borussia Dortmund.
On Monday, it was widely reported that Lyon rejected a €22.5million offer for their local playmaker with owner John Textor stepping in to deny the move.
L’Equipe who initially reported the story, now add that Cherki sent a formal letter drafted by his lawyers to request the move.
OL were initially handed an administrative relegation by French football’s financial body [the DNCG] if they don’t write off €100m in debt by the end of the season.
Textor is confident he can raise that money by other means, and therefore was steadfast in rejecting such a low offer for the club’s best player.
L’Equipe also claim that Lyon are confident they can recoup much more money for the France U21 star in the summer window.
