Ligue 1 could be set for an extraordinary shake up after PSG’s latest dominant title win.
L’Equipe report that a legislative group assigned to improve Ligue 1 are working on a proposal for championship play-offs.
The group, headed by Toulouse director of football Damien Comolli wants to see an end of season top four mini-tournament to decide who wins the title.
The four teams would stage semi-finals and a final, much like in England’s Championship second tier.
The idea is said to be very popular among the players, while there’s also talk of a revival of the League Cup, but just for teams who didn’t make it into Europe.
Since their takeover by Qatar, PSG have won 11 of the last 13 Ligue 1 titles, with their current win one of the most dominant, 19 point ahead of second-placed Marseille.
