Liga Portugal 2 side uses milk to redraw pitch lines in bizarre scenes

Winter weather chaos is nothing new in Portugal, but the method used by UD Oliveirense to get around a muddy pitch certainly was unique.

Oliveirense were scheduled to play Felgueiras at 11am in the Liga Portugal 2, but the match was delayed by 15 minutes due to soggy conditions.

Things then got worse when it emerged that the hosts were out of white paint to redraw the pitch lines over the mud.

Rather incredibly, staff then appeared with cartons of milk to fill their line drawing machine and the match was able to get underway.

If all of that isn’t bizarre enough, most incredible of all is that the trick actually worked, and the game was played without a hitch as Felgueiras won 3-0 away from home.

Defending the scenes post-match a member of staff told Record: “It is a technique that is also used in English football.”
