Leicester have joined Stade Reims in trying to tempt Davide Ancelotti away from Real Madrid.
The 34-year-old Los Blancos assistant is best known as Carlo Ancelotti’s son, but he’s quickly making a name for himself, particularly in the semi-finals of this year’s Champions League when he forced his father to bring on two-goal matchwinner Joselu.
Relevo report that Davide has already had approaches in the off-season from Reims and Leicester, with the latter recently losing fellow Italian Enzo Maresca to Chelsea.
However, his plan is to stay at the Bernabeu for at least another year, something he made abundantly clear in the aftermath of the 2-0 Champions League final win over Borussia Dortmund.
“Leaving Madrid is impossible for me,” he said. “I Won’t leave until they kick me out.”
However, he did add: “One day I want to go alone. When my father no longer trains I will go alone.
“But he can train until he is 100 years old. My father is a person who leaves me a lot of responsibility and is the ideal coach for any assistant.”
It’s currently assumed that Carlo could well retire in 2025, paving the way for Xabi Alonso to take over Real Madrid.
That would free up Davide to leave, but with the riches of the Premier League, things could easily change quickly should a mega offer land at the younger Ancelotti’s table.
