Kylian Mbappe thanked everyone in his PSG farewell video. Everyone except the man who made him the world’s highest-paid player – Nasser al-Khelaïfi.
On Friday night the France captain finally confirmed his departure from Paris before he joins Real Madrid on a free transfer.
In his social media video post, Mbappe thanked PSG supporters, all of his managers, his teammates, members of staff and even stewards, but there was no room for Al-Khelaïfi.
The Qatari head honcho reportedly made Mbappe the highest-paid player in the world at €200million when he shocked Real Madrid by committing his future to Paris in 2022.
Now he’s leaving for free, and it comes after a spectacular fallout.
When Mbappe decided he wouldn’t re-sign with the club last summer, triggering a free transfer, Al-Khelaïfi was fuming, leaving his star out of a pre-season tour of Japan.
Al-Khelaïfi even commented that he’d happily leave Mbappe on the bench for the 2023/24 season, while neither he nor PSG are yet to comment on the striker’s announcement.
RMC Sport have also reported that it’s unlikely the club will stage an official tribute to Mbappe in his final game, despite him being what many consider the club’s greatest-ever player.
