Sassuolo have been forced to make a statement on an infection outbreak ahead of their clash against Juventus.
Fabio Grosso’s side travel to the Serie A giants on Saturday night, but they’re already without five players due to whooping cough.
A club statement read: “Sassuolo Calcio announces that, following tests carried out in recent days, one case of whooping cough has been diagnosed and five cases with compatible symptoms have been found within the squad.
“The individuals displaying symptoms are currently isolated and have been under constant monitoring for three days by the club’s medical staff, who are applying all the procedures required by the current health protocols in agreement with the health authorities.
“We also inform you that, at the same time, all asymptomatic members of the group have promptly undergone specific prophylaxis.
“The club has already informed the Lega Serie A of the current situation and will continue to closely monitor the evolution of the situation, adopting all necessary measures to protect the health of its members and staff.
“At this time, the match against Juventus is not at risk of being postponed.”
