Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has come to the defence of Florian Wirtz, and it’s not good news for Liverpool.
The former Bayer Leverkusen man has massively struggled since his £106million switch and has been largely ineffective with just a pair of assists in Europe.
He was particularly poor last time out as Liverpool’s title hopes were virtually ended in a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City which saw the No.7 highlighted by the media.
Nagelsmann was asked about the situation and commented: “The club as a whole isn’t as stable this year as it was last year. It’s much harder to break into the team now.
“If you look at the game against City, they were the worst team for the full 90 minutes. So it’s difficult for Flo to have a significant impact.
“Ultimately, the overall situation is such that he simply needs a little more time, which is normal and something we see with other players who join the Premier League.
“We all know his potential, and it’s perfectly normal for a player of his age to experience a dip in form.”
