Jose Mourinho has only just arrived at Benfica and is already looking to make a splash in the transfer market.
MARCA report that just a few days ago Mourinho called his former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema over a January switch to Portugal.
The outlet add that at the age of 37 Benzema is considering the move as one last big transfer before retiring.
Currently playing in Saudi with Al Ittihad, Benzema has already done it all with a Pro League win last year, and it looks like his side could be on their way down with defeat to Al Nassr last time out.
Benzema and Mourinho won three titles together in Madrid, although the coach infamously said starting with the Frenchman was like ‘going hunting with a cat’.
