Papu Gomez may be regretting his swipe at Jose Mourinho.
Speaking last week the Monza forward was asked about the iconic manager and said: “I only have one memory of him and that is winning the Europa League with Sevilla against him.”
That is true, but Gomez didn’t feature in last season’s final where Sevilla won a shootout over Roma in Budapest.
Since those statements the Spanish Anti-Doping Comission have announced that Gomez failed a drugs test.
Responding to the news, Gomez put out a statement saying that he tested positive for terbutaline from his son’s cough medicine.
And Mourinho, speaking after Roma beat Gomez’s Monza 1-0, couldn’t help himself.
“He didn’t even play in the Europa League final,” he said.
“I have a cough, but I won’t take any cough syrup or pills. Otherwise I could have problems with the doping test.”
