The pressure is mounting on John Heitinga at Ajax, and ESPN aren’t helping.
The Eredivisie broadcasters have been highly critical of the rookie coach and one particular deconstruction of a recent defeat left him livid.
Speaking to ESPN ahead of a 3-2 win over Twente, he said: “I’m only here because of my contractual obligations with ESPN.
“You published an article that contained so many untruths. I, and we, find that reprehensible.
“Those untruths also create chaos. If players come to me… It’s based on an article that makes no sense.”
Club legend and former board member Danny Blind was in agreement, saying: “Usually, I take things written about me or Ajax at face value.
“But now I’m reading things on ESPN that I very clearly want to distance myself from. Because they are malicious fabrications.”
