John Heitinga’s agent has given a scathing take down of Ajax following his client’s dismissal.
Club great Heitinga was sacked with five defeats, five draws and five wins in 15 games and the Eredivisie side appear to be in disarray.
Now speaking out in defence of the former Liverpool assistant, agent Rob Jansen brutally tore into the club.
“Ajax‘s technical policy and structure are rotten,” he said. “And one of the biggest tumours at the club, undermining everything, is Danny Blind. He manipulates, he influences.
“Putting together a squad like this is killing them. Players standing at 1.20 meters tall, and no guys with strength and experience. At Olympique Marseille, they thought Ajax had sent in the A1 [youth team].”
Jansen went on to claim that Heitinga had the support of advisor Louis van Gaal.
“He immediately called Louis, and he said: ‘I did indeed tell you to get out.’ Because he’d received information from Beuker and Blind that everything was wrong.
“Blind hasn’t spoken to Heitinga himself for a single second. But he did tell Van Gaal that Heitinga was useless.
“Meanwhile, John spoke to Louis every week as a sounding board. And Louis always said: ‘I understand what you’re doing, it’s fine.’”
Asked if Ajax can improve under a more experienced coach, Jansen finished: “They have to clean house first.
“You can’t do anything with this squad, especially not in the Champions League.”
Blind has since responded to the comments in just as strong a fashion.
“You really shouldn’t respond to it; it’s not up to par,” he said.
“He should be ashamed of the lies and the language he used. He was my agent for thirty years and my son’s for ten.
“About eight years ago, he published a biography in which he smeared José Mourinho. Mourinho was the manager of Manchester United at the time, where Daley played.
“That’s not pleasant, I can tell you. At that point, we decided to end our collaboration. He’s saying this now out of spite; what else could it be?”
