Only 23-years-old and less than a year into his Bayer Leverkusen career, Jarell Quansah is making his presence felt.
The England centre back has impressed since signing from Liverpool for €35million, but the same can’t be said for Leverkusen as a whole.
Despite still being in the Champions League and DFB Pokal, Leverkusen are languishing in the Bundesliga and things got worse on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against relegation candidates Mainz.
Stepping up to the mic on a rare appearance was Quansah, and he’ll definitely be invited back.
“We didn’t win. And in my opinion, that’s not enough,” he said.
“We’ve been saying this a lot lately: not enough energy, not enough intensity, and it wasn’t enough again today.
“I feel like we’re playing against ourselves right now.
“We’re not playing together enough and we have different ideas.
“We’re playing without coordination. We need to regroup.”
A stark warning before a double header against Arsenal in Europe…
