Gennaro Gattuso made it two wins from two as Italy manager, but without showing his famous temper against Israel.
Italy beat Israel 5-4 in a World Cup qualifying thriller to follow up a 5-0 win over Estonia in Gattuso’s first game.
Ahead of the game, Gattuso said he was ‘sorry’ to face Israel.
“I’m sorry to have Israel in our group because they’re a team that plays well and can cause us problems,” he said.
“As for the rest, we all know: it hurts to see what’s happening, people and children losing their lives, I don’t want to say more.”
There was tension on the pitch at full-time after the win at the Nagyerdei Stadion in Hungary, and Gattuso was then caught in confrontation with Dor Turgeman.
Having walked onto the pitch the New England Revolution striker clearly appeared to irk the coach, who turned to him, squared up and shouted: “Shut your mouth!”
