Cristhian Stuani’s goal for Girona against Barcelona may have only been a consolation, but it still puts him in the history books.
The Uruguayan came off the bench with his side 4-0 down at home, and did what he always does, and scored as a substitute for a final score of 4-1.
The goal was Stuani’s 28th off the bench, which incredibly ties the all-time LaLiga record.
Julio Salinas, who played for Barca and Athletic Bilbao in the 1980s and 1990s had long stood top of the list on 28, but now has company.
Stuani has been with the Catalan side since 2017, having previously played for Middlesbrough, Espanyol, and a number of other Spanish sides.
Despite his role as a super sub, he’s also the team’s captain, something he’ll proudly boast when Girona travel to PSG for their first-ever Champions League match next time out.
