Despite being on the mend after his horrifying collapse, Edoardo Bove’s Fiorentina and Serie A career is set to come to an end.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who needed treatment and resuscitation after a terrifying incident against Inter Milan, has given the OK to the fitting of a defibrillator, La Repubblica reports.
An MRI scan has revealed scarring on his heart, which means he will need the device to control any further arrests and also monitor his heart rate.
Sadly for Bove and Fiorentina, the operation will mark the end of his Serie A career. The regulations on defibrillators and insurance are clear, as seen when Christian Eriksen had to leave Inter Milan.
However, the most important thing is the operation will allow Bove to live a normal life.
Bove debuted in Serie A during the 2020/21 season with boyhood side Roma and then joined Fiorentina on loan for the current campaign.
