Dani Carvajal’s behaviour has been called into question due to his exchanges with Lamine Yamal at the end of El Clasico.
The Real Madrid captain directed a ‘you talk too much’ style gesture at his Spain teammate over his pre-match comments that Madrid ‘steal and complain’.
The moment was the spark that led to a brawl between the two teams, and it comes despite reports that Carvajal wanted to hold talks with Lamine in order to ease tensions for the national team.
Those hopes are looking out of the window now, and there’s concern for Spain.
Commenting on what unfolded, Bojan Krkic Snr, a former player, scout and now media personality, gave Carvajal some huge praise before turning on him.
“It’s very important for the captain to be a leader,” he said.
“I really like Carvajal as a full-back and, in fact, last year he deserved to win the Ballon d’Or. He’s a great player.
“But he’s neither a leader nor a captain nor a role model.
“All his matches are contentious: elbowing, tackling, confrontations with important players from other teams…”
