The Saudi Pro League is set to be decided by an almighty head-to-head between Al Nassr and Al Hilal.
Ronaldo’s Nassr overtook Hilal during the season and racked up a decent lead, putting football’s all-time top scorer on course for a first major trophy in the Middle East.
However, Nassr lost 3-1 to Al-Qadisiyah last time out, gifting Hilal a lifeline with just three games left to play.
Hilal had to win their game in hand against Al-Khaleej to give themselves a title chance.
That’s because Nassr and Hilal now face off on May 12th with just two points separating them.
Hilal won their game in hand 2-1, but it was due to an astonishing error by one of Ronaldo’s countrymen.
Hilal went behind early to Joshua King, and after equalising were struggling for a winner.
That was until an incredible piece of poor defending by former Benfica and Moreirense defender Pedro Rebocho.
A hopeful long ball was lofted over to his left back position in the 79th minute and after chesting it down in plenty of space he stuck his arms out waiting for the goalkeeper to collect.
However, the goalkeeper didn’t and when Rebocho played it back to him, there was Sultan Mandash for a simple intercept and tap in that reignites the title race and undoubtedly Ronaldo’s fury.
Given the two team’s near flawless records this season and their respective run ins, victory for Hilal will likely secure them the title, while a win or draw would take Ronaldo’s first.
Should Nassr fail to win, they have one more shot at earning a trophy for Ronaldo in the Champions League Two final on May 15th.
