Recently sacked Benfica coach Bruno Lage has filed a lawsuit against former side Botafogo.
The Portuguese coach managed the Brazilian outfit for just four months in 2023, and is now asking for €1.5million euros as he believes his rights were not respected.
Fogo na Rede claim Lage wants compensation for having his contract terminated before the initially stipulated deadline, in addition to seeking the annulment of the image rights agreement signed with Botafogo.
This would be the second time he’s taken legal action against his former side, having made headlines in England for suing club owner and president John Textor for £6m.
Textor was also the majority shareholder at Crystal Palace at the time, and Lage alleged that he’d been offered a job at Palace or Lyon.
Earlier discussing Lage, Textor said: “I made a mistake by not fighting harder for Bruno Lage to stay.”
