Dorival Júnior has been sacked as Brazil coach following the 4-1 humiliation against Argentina.
The CBF confirmed their decision in a statement to UOL, with president Ednaldo Rodrigues saying: “From now on, we will look for a replacement. In due course, we will inform the replacement.”
Dorival was hired just over a year ago in January 2024, leaving Sao Paulo for the top job.
UOL add that the federation have a four-man shortlist of replacements, and they’re all foregin.
Not since 1965 have Brazil had a foreign coach, but Italian Carlo Ancelotti is their top choice with his Real Madrid future still in doubt.
Spaniard Pep Guardiola has previously expressed his ambitions to coach the side, and has had an unusually poor season with Manchester City.
Meanwhile, two Portuguese coaches are in the mix, Abel Ferreira, who is hugely popular thanks to his massive success with Palmeiras, and Jorge Jesus who won four titles with Flamengo.
