Bordeaux’s Coupe de France match against US Saintes has been postponed with the French giants facing total collapse.
The third round fixture was scheduled for Saturday, but has been pushed back eight days with Bordeaux’s future still up in the air.
The club were already relegated to the fourth tier under the infamous Gerard Lopez and have since been sent down to the sixth amateur leagues after he failed to pay debts.
One ownership group came forward and said they would cover the €10.6million if the club were allowed to stay in the fourth tier, but pulled out once the relegation was upheld.

Bordeaux are yet to play a match this season and are facing liquidation. The Regional 1 league they’re due to play in has already resumed.
Commenting on the cup match, goalkeeper Jan Hoekstra told L’Equipe: “Almost 90% of the team no longer trains in Bordeaux.
“Only a few players, who live or were born in the region, continue to do so.
“I think it will be made up of under-19 players and a few reserve players, but, to be honest, I don’t know exactly who will play.”
His comments come after the players released a joint statement on the current situation.
Bordeaux players release statement on current shambles
It reads as follows:
We, the professional players of Girondins de Bordeaux, supported by the UNFP, have remained silent and hopeful for many weeks. We now feel obliged to speak out about our situation, which continues to deteriorate week after week.
The prospective buyer has withdrawn from the takeover of the club.
Since then, the club’s management has repeatedly sought to buy time in the face of the threat of judicial liquidation. The Bordeaux Commercial Court has granted the Girondins an additional extension: the club will not receive a decision this week, nor the next.
We respect the efforts made to avoid filing for bankruptcy, and we understand the extreme difficulty of the club’s situation.
For several months, we ourselves have agreed to put our personal plans on hold and be patient, because we wanted to believe in the project being pursued by the club.
But what we are experiencing today has changed in nature.
We no longer have any visibility: no more team training, no more sporting project, and the feeling of being abandoned. As employees, we feel that we are no longer being respected.
All the championships have now resumed, including Regional 1.
We have let sporting opportunities pass us by because we still believed in the impossible. This stubbornness on the part of the owner, which we could still understand a few weeks ago, is no longer sustainable today.
Every day that passes reduces our chances of continuing our careers.
The time we have taken to remain loyal to the Bordeaux project has had an impact on each and every one of us. We do not regret it, but we can no longer bear it amid this complete uncertainty.
We can no longer wait indefinitely for clarification that never comes.
Each additional day of silence takes away a little more of our ability to bounce back and now puts our professional futures at risk just as much as the club’s future.
We are asking for clear, immediate answers about what comes next for each and every one of us.
