It was a bad night for PSG and owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi, and not just because of what happened on the pitch.
The Ligue 1 giants lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena and now have just one win in their four Champions League league phase matches.
Currently heading out of the competition in 26th – a position that may get lower with more teams to play – it was a night to forget for Al-Khelaifi.
However, he had even more reason for a sleepless night thanks to Bayern’s fans.
During the first half the team’s north curve unfurled banners targeting the Qatari businessman.
One read: “Minister, club owner, TV rights holder, member of the UEFA executive committee and president of the ECA: all that at the same time?”
While another said: “Football, is it me? F*** off to the plutocratic Al-Khelaifi.”
The PSG president’s face was also displayed with a red circle and cross over it.
On the pitch, Paris were abysmal after Min-Jae Kim’s opener and eventual winner, and the French press have laid into them severely.
L’Equipe said ‘PSG has ended up as a club that no longer exists in Europe,’ and they branded Luis Enrique ‘arrogant’.
Former France midfielder Emmanuel Petit was just as savage, saying on radio: “Football is emotion and I don’t feel any emotion watching Paris Saint-Germain.
“I don’t feel any emotion. Sometimes, I force myself, I really want to believe it, I want to tell myself that at some point, it will turn in their favour, that Luis Enrique’s ideas will take shape, but I don’t feel any emotion.
“There isn’t a single player who gives me emotions. Even in the collective expression of the team, I get bored considerably…”
