Two of the biggest vacancies in world football are closer to being filled by Roberto De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim.
Bayern Munich and Liverpool are both searching for new managers after Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp announced their summer departures.
The pair were set to battle for former player Xabi Alonso, but with the Spaniard staying at Bayer Leverkusen, it’s time to move on to alternatives.
Sky Sports claim that Liverpool are not considering De Zerbi as a replacement for Klopp, which will come as good news to Bayern, with sporting director Max Eberl a huge fan of the Italian.
The Reds will instead turn their attention to Sporting’s Amorim, who has long been seen as the ideal back-up for Alonso.
There are two potential spanners in the works, though, with Bayern still likely to prioritise the return of Julian Nagelsmann who is currently the manager of Germany.
Meanwhile, The Independent claim that Amorim is a top candidate for Barcelona.
