Vitor Roque may be a distant bad memory at Barcelona, but that could all change by the time the World Cup rolls around.
The Brazilian striker arrived in Spain in 2024 in a deal that could have reached €60million with add ons.
A teenager at the time, he was instantly swamped by comparisons to fellow LaLiga arrival Endrick, and then left on loan to Real Betis where he continually slated his parent club.
Things didn’t quite work out at Betis either, but now aged 20 and at Palmeiras permanently, he’s back flying.
Roque now has 12 goals and three assists in 25 Brasileiro Série A matches making him the league’s third top scorer.
Working under Abel Ferreira, arguably the highest rated coach outside of Europe, Roque is learning at a rapid rate, and his manager wants him back in the Brazil set up to earn his second cap.
“I’ve already said that Brazil is a special country and that we all do our job, but it’s a perfectly legitimate question,” he responded to recall shouts.
“He’s one of the young players we have available. If the national team coach feels he should sign him, fine.
“He has to keep going like this, keep scoring goals… He’s a young player, of the same quality as Endrick and Estevao”
