Former Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has laid into the club for their treatment of Marc Andre ter Stegen.
The club captain spend all of 2025 on the sidelines after a serious injury which saw the emergency signing of Wojciech Szczęsny.
Szczęsny hugely impressed and now looks set for a two-year contract extension, while the club also appear to be landing Joan Garcia from Espanyol as their new back-up.
That could shed Ter Stegen’s huge wages, but also leave the club’s captain without a team, something he’s been asked about non-stop while on international duty with Germany.
Font has now responded to how the saga has played out, saying: “Barça doesn’t know how to treat its captains, its legends, well.
“It is absolutely reprehensible that Ter Stegen hasn’t spoken to anyone at the club, that he has to find out everything through leaks to the press and that there is this kind of bullying of a player who has been with us for so many years.”
