Arda Guler has been forced to make a statement over claims he’s being bullied at Real Madrid.
The Turkish attacker hit the headlines in Spain when Fenerbahce’s former head of scouting claimed a group of players were bullying Guler, and that they were also responsible for Xabi Alonso’s sacking.
Responding to the claims, Guler wrote on social media: “From day one, I have been warmly welcomed by everyone at this club and have always considered this place my family.
“I have saddened to see the recent public statements made by former head of scouting Serhat Pekmezci, who played an important role at the start of my career.
“I am extremely proud to be a Real Madrid player and wish to defend this badge for many more years.”
Pekmezci claims Arda Guler was bullied
Speaking to Turkish outlet Sports Digitale, former Fenerbahce employee Pekmezci said: “The bullying came from the players.
“There’s a group there that hasn’t been able to accept Arda; unfortunately, they’re players with very big egos.
“Even though Real Madrid is a megaclub, Arda Güler is being bullied. It’s not that he complained to me, but he knew this would happen. I told him to be patient.
“He thinks, ‘Why is it always me?’
“He said that some players need to leave so that he can arrive. That’s why Xabi Alonso left too.”
