Cristiano Ronaldo, unsurprisingly, didn’t take Antonio Cassano’s criticism well.
The former Real Madrid, Milan and Inter striker is known for headline-making comments in his job as a pundit, and did exactly that with Ronaldo.
Cassano said that the Portuguese striker “Doesn’t know how to play football and I don’t give a s*** if he scores 3,000 goals,” before comparing his all-round play unfavourably to various names like Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain.
It now turns out that Ronaldo didn’t take things well, and first sent Cassano a surprise screenshot.
“I saw a number with the prefix 0034 on my mobile phone. 0034 is Spain,” he said.
“Then I saw a list with all the titles Cristiano Ronaldo won, as well as the goals and statistics.”
Ronaldo then sent a voice note saying Cassano ‘disrespected him’ adding: “You don’t need to do that again. You only scored 150 goals, you only won four titles.”
The Italian then recalled his response, which was: “Dear Cristiano Ronaldo, listen to me: do you know what the problem is? I didn’t respect you because I didn’t like you as a player.”
