Espanyol gave everything to Joan Garcia, but the Barcelona goalkeeper fought back with even more.
All eyes were on the Barcelona derby with Garcia in for all sorts of abuse for swapping teams in the summer.
Espanyol heated things up by adding nets behind the goals to avoid any incidents and called on supporters to behave properly.
Thankfully they did in large during a 2-0 defeat, just bombarding Garcia with boos and whistles when he emerged pre-match, and giving the same treatment to every touch of the ball.
Then, in the 13th minute, a number that corresponds with his shirt number, the entire home end held up rat posters in Barca colours.
Garcia, though, didn’t care, producing a string of saves that will end up in highlight reels for the rest of his career.
Espanyol dominated most of the match and led the shot clock even with a late flurry of efforts from the visitors.
In the 20th minute he shoved his own defender, Gerard Martin, out of the way to make a crucial save and just before half-time he made a save of the season contender from a point-blank Pere Milla header.
More came, and in the end he was comfortably given the Man of the Match award ahead of goalscorers Dani Olmo and Robert Lewandowski.
Espanyol fans were gutted, but perhaps not as much as Marc Andre ter Stegen and Wojciech Szczęsny watching a performance that may have ended both of their Barca careers.
