Faced with empty seats for Mohamed Salah’s Egypt, AFCON let fans in for free

afcon egypt empty seats

Egypt’s 2-1 win over Zimbabwe was the game of AFCON so far, but not enough for fans to pay for the privilege.

The match at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir began with an embarrassing number of empty seats, but reports claim organisers then let around 30,000 supporters in for free.

Multiple videos and fan accounts online show thousands being let in without tickets to witness Mohamed Salah’s stoppage time winner.

Sadly for AFCON, this isn’t an isolated case either, with Mali and Zambia’s 1-1 draw also virtually empty in Casablanca.
