Fiorentina striker Edin Dzeko won’t be punished after taking a microphone from the fans to address them over criticism.

The Viola are in the Serie A relegation zone and after a 2-0 defeat away in Atalanta things got ugly in the visitor’s end.

Dzeko took a megaphone from the fans to speak to them and the federal prosecutor’s inspectors announced they were looking into the incident.

However, Dzeko has avoided any punishment as his comments didn’t violate the organisation’s justice code.

His speech mainly consisted of asking for support from the fans, saying: “We need you.”

Article 25, paragraph 9 of the sporting code says: “During matches or in situations related to the performance of their activities, members are prohibited from engaging in discussions with supporters or from submitting to demonstrations and behaviour by supporters that constitute forms of intimidation, cause offense, denigration, insult to the person, or otherwise violate human dignity.”
