One of the most long awaited Bayern Munich arrivals, Joao Palhinha has €50million deal from Fulham certainly hasn’t started well.

The Portuguese midfielder was understood to be in Munich signing for the club in 2023, but a deal collapsed at the last minute, only to be rekindled in the summer of 2024.

Clearly wanted by Thomas Tuchel, it turned out that Vincent Kompany wasn’t so keen, and neither was the rest of the Bundesliga.

Kicker conduct an annual anonymous survey of over 200 players and the results are now in, with Palhinha the headline.

He was voted ‘flop of the season’ with 13.4% of the vote ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt on 10.2%.

Brandt’s Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin was also the coaching flop of the season with a massive 34.7% of the vote.

Previous flop of the season winners have been ex-Liverpool duo Naby Keita in 2024 and Sadio Mane in 2023.

On the positive side of things, Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz was voted as the best player of the season with 28.2%, just ahead of Bayer’s Michael Olise on 26.4%.
