‘I’m not here for you’ – Luis Enrique settles scores in tense exchange with journalist

Despite the good vibes rolling after his second Champions League win and PSG’s first, Luis Enrique experienced one tetchy post-match moment.

The Spaniard was getting praised all round for becoming only the second manager to win two European trebles, but had some bad memories when he saw Movistar’s Susana Guasch.

“I’m here for Mónica (Marchante),” he said. “You all know that.

“Less so for you (referring to Ávaro Benito). And not much for you (referring to Guasch).”

Guasch was clearly taken aback and responded: “Time flies, how much time has passed?”

To which Luis Enrique responded: “I don’t know. I’m still just as young. I don’t know how much time has passed.”

At the end of the chat, Guasch then said: “There’s no shortage of sticks. He always has a dart ready.”

Luis Enrique and Guasch’s problems date back almost a decade to his time at Barcelona when they clashed after a Champions League exit to Atletico Madrid.

“Your analysis is quite superficial, quite gratuitous,” he told her.

“It has nothing to do with that of a professional… Talk about whatever you want, I’ll answer whatever I want.”
