It turns out that winning the Champions League all the time is unsurprisingly actually good for your bank balance.
The reigning European and LaLiga champions, Real Madrid, took their fifth continental crown last season, and among the extraordinary benefits is their revenue for the 2023/24 season reaching €1.073billion.
Madrid become the first-ever club to top the billion euro mark, representing a massive 27% increase on the 2022/23 season.
Overall, they netted just a €16million profit, but that’s still a 32% increase, and amid the spending on a new Santiago Bernabeu stadium which opened during the season, it’s a figure to be admired.
Work is still ongoing on the new arena, and is expected to be finished during the new campaign, with investments into the refurbishment and rebuild costing €1.163bn.
This is all amid the backdrop of the club completely rebuilding their squad on the pitch, replacing the legendary midfield of Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric with elite-level youngsters Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni and Jude Bellingham.
Meanwhile, they also signed Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, completing a front-line with Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo that could well rival the famous ‘BBC’ Bale, Benzema and Cristiano trio.
Oh, and we haven’t even mentioned Endrick.
