Xavi set a June 30 date for his Barcelona departure, but it could well come far earlier.
The reigning LaLiga champions saw their season go from bad to worse at the weekend, drawing 3-3 at home to relegation strugglers Granada.
The result came just two weeks after Xavi announced his decision to step down as head coach after a 4-3 loss to Villarreal.
The ever-vocal club president Laporta later said he would have already sacked the manager if he wasn’t a club legend, but now he may be forced to.
Multiple reports from Spain claim Laporta trashed his VIP box at Montjuïc following the draw against Granada, and left canapés spilt across the room.
With that story now in every Spanish sports outlet available, AS have followed up by reporting that Laporta has had enough.
Next week Barca play Napoli in the last 16 of the Champions League, with the competition their only remaining feint hope of a trophy this season.
Should the first leg go against the Catalan side, Laporta is will sack Xavi early to give the team a boost before the second leg.
That could see B team coach Rafa Marquez promoted until the end of the season while the club line up a new full-time option.
