For the third time in as many months, Jose Mourinho has compared his resources to Pep Guardiola’s.

The Roma coach conducted a tetchy press conference, coming after a 1-0 Coppa Italia quarter-final defeat to city rivals Lazio.

With four defeats in six, Roma fans are questioning the legendary coach for the first time, so he came out on the attack.

Asked about Paulo Dybala’s availability for a huge clash against Milan, Mourinho said: “I don’t think he will be available. Playing without him is not like Guardiola playing without Haaland, because he has Álvarez.

“Roma has great limitations due to Financial Fair Play and this shows.

“Who do we have available in defence? Kristensen who is not a centre-back, Mancini is injured and in a position that he doesn’t play, Huijsen is a child, Llorente is a doubt. It is unfair to ignore it.

“If I look at the first four there is no comparison, but we are Roma, the team with the most incredible fans I have ever seen in my life.

“People think the coach’s name is ‘José Harry Mourinho Potter’, but the truth is that we are fighting something very difficult.”

Asked about his squad’s injuries, Mourinho replied: “In the two years and five months that I have been here, I am the only one who has not missed a single minute of training.

“There are no illnesses or bad days: two weeks ago I was the only one working, everyone was sick. I once asked for a day and was away for 14 or 15 hours, it’s ridiculous to have to justify myself.

“I am an example of professionalism: in 23 years I have never missed a game.”
