Despite a phenominal performance for Real Madrid against Valencia, Rodrygo isn’t happy.

The Brazilian put in a season-best display in LaLiga, scoring an assisting twice in a 5-1 drubbing.

However, speaking while on international duty, he’s again expressed his discontent with playing in a forward berth in a 4-3-1-2 formation.

He said: “It’s an opportunity to be Madrid’s ‘9’, it’s an honour, too, for me. With my characteristics it doesn’t fit very well, I don’t like it.

“I like to touch the ball a lot and as a ‘9’ it’s not possible as much . But Vini and I are adapting more to this role and things are turning out better.”

“I tried to score in every way, but things weren’t going well for me. I’ve returned to my best version. These last few games everything has gone well.

“I kept training and believing and now I’m back , I can’t blame something in particular, it was my fault.

“It was a little difficult for me to play more as a ‘9’, I was adapting, but now I feel a little better, because the coach gives me more freedom to go to the wings .

“Now these last games have gone better, with more freedom. If the coach puts me in this position it is because he believes I can do well.”
