Zinedine Zidane has barred reporters from the entrance to France’s national team training camp, ending a fan favourite tradition.
The new France coach will name his first squad since replacing Didier Deschamps for the upcoming Nations League fixtures.
However, there won’t be the usual fanfare when those players arrive.
As had become customary, players would take a taxi to the entrance of Clairefontaine and the walk past photographers and reporters.
The ‘catwalk’ quickly became a fashion show, with Jules Kounde and Michael Olise dressing particularly sharply.
Now those days are over in an early crack of the whip from Zidane.
The three-time Champions League winning coach has also reportedly sacked the team’s podiatrist for giving an unauthorised interview.
L’Equipe report that Marc Retali was previously on Zidane’s organisation chart but has since been removed after speaking to lead sports radio station RMC.
