Xavi hasn’t always had the best relationship with Spanish journalists, and now he’s suing two of them.
The Barcelona manager has accused El Pais journalist Manuel Jabois and freelance writer Javier Miguel of lying, according to Marca.
On November 7, Jabois called Xavi ‘the clown of Europe’ in an editorial after a defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk but that isn’t what caused the issue.
Jabois later claimed that a manager had criticised his work, saying: “It was private, through messages and in a quite dirty way. He won everything and thought that because of it he had become untouchable.”
Xavi’s entourage has assured that the manager never contacted Jabois and that there was an aggravating factor of saying that he had done something ‘dirty’.
Meanwhile, Javier Miguel is being sued for a story where he claimed that Xavi demanded members of his staff put their phones on the table in an attempt to find a leak on WhatsApp.
That is absolutely false according to Xavi, and said journalist who now has a deadline to rectify this information. If he does not do so, the lawsuit will continue.
