Rodri is ready to play after leaving Spain’s Euro 2024 opener against Croatia early, but there’s more to worry about.
The Manchester City superstar hobbled off during the 3-0 victory with four minutes to play, and now Cadena SER report that he’s not injured, but may have his minutes managed.
The Spanish outlet, which’s on the ground at Spain‘s training base Donaueschingen, says that: “The concern is maximum with Rodri’s physical condition,” and they’re in ‘save Rodri’ mode.
That’s due to fears of burnout for the 27-year-old who has played a mammoth 58 games for club and country since the start of the 2023/24 season.
Rodri did arrive in peak condition for the Euros, but there’s increasing concerns about overloading their star player.
With three points on the board and Spain playing well, it now looks like they could well rotate the midfielder in and out of the team to prevent burnout, but that plan is complicated with Italy next up on Thursday.
