Sergio Ramos’ offer to play for Sevilla while his takeover is being finalised has hit a hitch.
The Real Madrid legend hasn’t played since leaving Monterrey in the summer and has had much of his focus on heading up a consortium trying to buy his first ever club.
Ramos cannot own and play for a club due to LaLiga rules, but he could play for Sevilla up until the takeover process is complete as it’s expected to last months.
Yet another LaLiga rule is likely to prevent him from doing so.
The league’s salary cap rules state that even on minimum wage players of age must earn €195,000, ending any idea that Ramos could play for free.
And because of the same salary cap, Sevilla have no headroom left at all to spend that money, as per AS.
The outlet does state that Ramos could still try and pass an ‘Assessment Committee’ for special circumstances, but even then, Sevilla have ‘no money’.
