Enrique Riquelme has given the name of one of the ‘global superstars’ who has agreed to join his presidential bid.
The challenger to Florentino Perez has said he has two star players to go and a coach should be be elected Real Madrid president on June 7th.
Now, ahead of announcing more names on Wednesday, he’s given the first.
Speaking to Tiempo de Juego on COPE, Riquelme said: “If I am president, a player like Rodri will play for Real Madrid.
“Signing him would avoid the painful embarrassment of not having any Real Madrid players on the Spanish national team.”
Later, while watching the women’s team play, he went on the attack against Perez, saying he will privatise the club so members can no longer vote.
“I think it’s crucial that he dropped the pretence, in the middle of a campaign, and clearly stated that he’s going to privatise the club.
“The club must be 100% owned by its members. Today is a day when the pretence has been unmasked.”
