Real Betis captain Aitor Ruibal was subjected to some unpleasant abuse while playing away at Rayo Vallecano.
The versatile cult hero spoke to Movistar after a 0-0 draw between the two LaLiga sides when he was distracted by a shout from the stands.
“Ruibal, paint your nails, you faggot!” could be heard behind the camera.
Ruibal replied: “Nice one, homophobe.”
He went on to tell the reporter: “This happens to me every match so it’s no big deal.
“Nothing, nothing, we have to move on,” he said before changing the subject.
It should be noted that Ruibal has a wife and child, but he and teammates Hector Bellerin and Borja Iglesias have been targeted for their fashion by fans.
