Members of Raphinha’s family have spoken to local news in Barcelona after a number of stories about the Brazil forward.
Raphinha was injured in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Haiti and there was concern his World Cup may be over after Vinicius Jr suggested it was a relapse of the hamstring injury that kept him out of 23 Barca games last season.
He has been ruled out of the next match against Scotland and the Brazilian football federation [CBF] haven’t put a date on his return.
However, reports claim he’ll be back in time for the last 16, something his family only slightly disagree with with.
Raphinha injury update
Barcelona outlet Mundo Deportivo spoke to his family and entourage and report: “Regarding his physical condition, doctors reported that the footballer felt a hamstring injury.
“This is the same area where he had previously experienced discomfort, prompting a detailed medical evaluation to determine the exact extent of the problem.
“His entourage maintains that the injury is “minor,” ruling out any serious consequences.
“The player’s current expectation is that he should be back in about two weeks, in time for the quarter-final matches should Brazil qualify.”
On top of injury issues there have also been reports of financial problems.
Raphinha has been linked with a departure from Barca to a Saudi Arabia mega money move ever since his arrival.
After the Haiti match, former Brazilian international Vampeta said in to the ‘RedCast’ podcast: “Raphinha is going through a serious family problem in addition to financial difficulties.
“He’s praying to see if he can go to Al Hilal. He’s dealing with this situation.
“It’s a family matter. The information reached me through people close to the situation at Barcelona.
“He is confident that the transfer to Al Hilal will allow him to turn the situation around.”
Al Hilal transfer links dismissed by Raphinha’s entourage
His family have also denied the story in conversation with MD.
The outlet writes:” Besides sporting matters, his name has also been linked to a possible departure from Barca to Saudi Arabia, citing certain financial problems.
“His entourage insists there are no issues. ‘Regarding his departure, there’s nothing to worry about. He’s focused on the national team and very happy at Barcelona,’ they told this newspaper.
“His attention is centred on his physical recovery and continuing to contribute his performance when he becomes available again.
“The statements gathered categorically deny the existence of a crisis in the player’s personal life. Raphinha’s family remains united. ‘His wife, his son, his parents, and his brother are all together in the United States,’ following the World Cup.
“Those close to the player say they don’t understand the source of the reports about family conflicts. They believe these rumours are unfounded and do not reflect reality.”
